Cathy is an international award winning quilt artist for her innovative design techniques and quilting style. She has won Judges Choice, Best Machine Quilting, Best of Show, Viewers Choice and numerous other ribbons at these prestigious events. In addition, her work has been displayed in many national quilt shows in the U.S. as well as on exhibit in special displays and art exhibits. She has appeared on many quilt shows including The Quilt Show with Ricky Tims and Alex Anderson, Linda Taylor’s - Linda’s Longarm Quilting and the Quilt Central.
Cathy has been quilting for over 30 years and longarm quilting almost 20. Her work has been published in numerous quilting magazines, including international publications in France and Japan. Cathy’s work has been showcased on the covers of books and in special promotion publications. |
As a teacher, Cathy in infectious! She has a delightful, positive personality and the energy of several 2-year olds! She is a dynamic teacher who thinks that sharing her knowledge in a simple to understand, but fun and exciting way is why she loves to teach.
Cathy is able to help each student understand the principles she is teaching; but more than that, she encourages each student so that they feel they can incorporate her techniques into their own quilting designs.

CF01 Borders, Piecing and Binding - Oh My! |

Your longarm can do more than just quilt!
You can create an entire quilt on it! Strip piecing, adding borders and binding are a snap.
In this class we will do just that! Cathy will show you how to create stunning border designs using simple shapes in several different ways. How quilting the background of the borders can add or subtract from the overall look. Afraid of math? Don’t be
Cathy will show you how to easily find correct spacing for your border designs and share lots of tips on how to improve your work.
Samples using different waddings will illustrate how wide you need to cut the binding fabric.
We will finish by putting the binding on with the longarm! |

Soar above everyday quilting and garment making. Go on a journey with Cathy to help unleash your creative energy and create an exciting world of texture and design.
In class we will create of book of ideas for you to use in the future to help you make creative choices for your work.
Cathy will show you how you can add stunning embellishments that are easy to do. She will use visual aids and instructions to help you on your way to creative works of art.
Do you want to make dragon skin, tree bark, leaves, flowers or a rock wall that begs to be touched? You will create back ground fabrics with fabric paint, wonder under and foil that will rival the old masters. |

| CF03 Thread and Ink for Creative Quilting |

Fabric inks and thread painting can give your quilts and textile art that WOW factor.
Fabric inks are a great way to add colour and splash to your fabric. Cathy will show you the easy way to use them.
Let's toss in a thread painting to add details and texture to that design.
She will show you how to use thread to create line, shape, shadow, and depth to your work.
We will talk about how the various thread weights and textures can add different looks to your finished quilts.
Stitch length is another aspect that we will cover to give the texture and definition to your pieces.

We will explore blending threads to create an artistic look.
You will be creating a sampler quilt to take home that will clearly illustrate all these aspects. |
