BC02 Creative Studio Intermediate 1

Creative Studio

In this class we will cover in depth two aspects of Creative Studio: Edge to Edge and Borders and Corners

We will discuss all aspects of using the Edge-to-Edge feature to quilt an entire quilt, or a large area inside a border.

We will go through the entire process step by step and explain the importance and reasoning behind each step. Different methods of recovering from missteps will be covered such as, a misplaced Point of Origin, and incorrect restarts.

We will also talk about previewing different patterns, and ways to expand and enhance our creativity with this process. Creative Studio provides us with the ability to streamline doing Edge to Edge work and give us more flexibility. In this class we will learn how to get our E2E feature to sew back and forth across the quilt continuously, saving time on quilts with a pattern allowing multiple rows per each advance of the quilt.

There are times when certain patterns in the E2E feature just won't allow us to stitch our patterns the way we want, so we'll learn how to use the Repeat Pattern feature to stitch out our E2E design, giving us more options without giving up any of the advantages of the E2E feature.

With Creative Studio we can now increase the accuracy and impact of the borders we incorporate into our quilting.

This class will discuss all aspects of designing border treatment, including whether we should rotate the quilt. We will learn a quick and accurate way to place border corners and then calculate the correct number of repeats and connect the corners.

We will learn how to stitch the side borders as we work down the quilt, accurately connecting previously sewn repeats.

We will also discuss how to pick the correct pattern for the border size. After taking this class, the student will feel comfortable with adding borders to their quilting designs.

After taking this class, you will have a better appreciation and understanding of the Edge-to-Edge and Borders and Corners process and will be able to expand your quilting capabilities.

BC03 Pattern Management

Patteren Management

We all have the same problem! Where is that pattern? I know that I have seen it recently?

In this session you will be shown a program that I use for pattern management.

It is installed on to your lap top along with Creative Studio.

Multiple groups of patterns can be saved each with it's own distinct name. The database is not just a list of your patterns it is an actual database of the stitching files.

There is some pattern preparation that is needed prior to loading your patterns although this is well worth the effort.

This program enables you to meet with your clients at a quilt shop or in your studio, anywhere in fact!

Using your laptop, you can preview and choose the patterns that they like. In the property pane to the right of the large central pane, you will be able to see the default height and width of a selected pattern along with other information. You can then take the pattern into Creative Studio and manipulate it or create repeats to show your clients what the pattern is going to look like when it is quilted. You then save them in a group named for that client/quilt and export them to a USB key to be used when you get back to your Statler.

While your Statler Stitcher is quilting one quilt you can preview and gather patterns for your next quilt. Save them into a group using the images on the screen, export that group of patterns to a USB key, plug the key into your Statler and then add the pre-selected patterns to your next quilt group directly from the USB key.

You are ready to quilt your next quilt!
